Top 5 Creative Trophy Designs for Sports & Corporate Events

Corporate events and competitions are incomplete without recognition. There’s always an award lurking around somewhere waiting to be handed out.

We’ve all seen them: those wooden plaques, or in some cases, gold-plated trophies gathering dust in office corners. You can’t miss them; they look the same across the board.

But things are different now, especially in Nigeria, where the fight for brand recognition is fierce. Awards have become storytelling tools for corporate brands, and sports event organisers now opt for trophies that reflect the achievement or the essence of the event.

5 Trophy Designs That Raised the Bar in 2025

Every now and then, an award shows up differently and raises the bar. These trophy designs did exactly that.

Map of Africa Award for UBA’s 75th Anniversary

There was no better way to say thank you to the people responsible for 75 years of growth than with a custom award that captured the brand’s African identity.

The Map of Africa award honoured the bank’s Pan-African heritage. It turned appreciation and a corporate milestone into a statement about brand identity, which is exactly what anniversary awards should accomplish. Sculptural awards like this are trending because they act as visual metaphors. They don’t need explanation; their meaning is immediately understood.

When planning recognition events for major milestones, consider how your awards can reflect your organisation’s identity and values.

Heirs Insurance Essay Competition Awards

Every award design begins with a question: what are we celebrating? For the Heirs Essay Competition, the answer wasn’t just writing; it was the courage of expression and the power of ideas.

The two awards we created for the Heirs Insurance Essay competition reflected this. One featured a hand with a feather quill, and the other showed male and female figures with raised fists, symbolising victory.

Both awards communicated the essence of the competition without requiring explanation. This is the hallmark of exceptional award design: providing context without words.

Comicade’s Partner Recognition Awards

When your event spans four African countries and celebrates innovation across multiple technological fields, your partner recognition awards need to match that energy.

The Comicade Gamathon awards featured a figure in an athletic pose wearing VR glasses, a perfect representation of the various tracks.

This award acknowledged the sponsors while capturing the spirit of the interactive and immersive industries without being tied to a single field.

Red Bull Half Court Tournament Trophies

Sports trophies should reflect the spirit of the competition, not just the outcome.

For the Red Bull Half Court Tournament, the goal was clear: create trophies that highlight the work it took to win. The result was a set of award variations inspired by street basketball culture and designed in the brand’s colours.

Each trophy represented what the players fought for on the court, making the award a physical extension of the tournament.

Awards for the 1st Africa School Games Event

The Africa School Games is a multi-sport, inter-school competition, and the awards needed to feel like something young athletes would genuinely be proud to take home.

The design was inspired by the Africa School Games logo because our goal wasn’t to make something flashy but something recognisable that feels tied to the games.

It’s the kind of award that doesn’t feel disposable, and that matters, especially for upcoming athletes.
